Sogni D’Oro means “sweet dreams.”
It felt like the right name for a house like this.
Five years ago, we opened the doors to this old Ligurian farmhouse with a simple hope — that it could be a place where people rest well.
Not just sleep.
Rest.
The kind that comes from mountain air, slower mornings, and conversations that aren’t rushed.
Our Story
Long before Sogni D’Oro had a name, the Borbera Valley had already found its way into our lives.
We first began visiting in 1990.
Year after year, we returned - drawn by something we couldn’t quite explain at the time.
The mountains.
The air.
The steadiness of it all.
In 2016, we finally took the leap.
We left city life behind and chose the valley as our permanent home.
What began as annual visits became everyday life.
And in time, the idea of opening our doors felt natural.
Not as a business plan - but as something we genuinely wanted to share.
It is our joy to welcome guests here.
To offer the beauty and quiet of this place to those who need it.
Over the years, what started as a seasonal venture has become our full-time home.
We now live here year-round, settling into the rhythm of spring blossoms, summer light, autumn mist, and winter stillness.
Living here has changed us.
It has taught us patience.
And the value of less.
The People Who Find Their Way Here
Over the years, certain kinds of travellers tend to find us.
Walkers and hikers exploring the Apennines.
Couples craving quiet.
Solo travellers between busy seasons of life.
Creatives who need space to think.
Small retreat groups looking for something real, not polished.
Sogni D’Oro isn’t about spa menus or packed itineraries.
It’s about mountain air.
Good sleep.
Simple meals.
And a slower rhythm than most places allow.
If that sounds like what you’ve been needing, you’ll feel at home here.
